The Out of the Blue program is organized into several initiatives, which take place over four days:

Out of the Blue Experiences

The Out of the Blue Experiences combine the exploration of the geography and gastronomy of Matosinhos through guided tours and visits focused on food and ocean sustainability. Over three days, participants will have the opportunity to explore iconic locations in Matosinhos, such as the Cruise Terminal, CIIMAR, the Matosinhos Fish Auction (Docapesca), and the canning factories. Each visit will be guided, offering an immersion into the rich gastronomic diversity of the region.

Special dinners will also be organised at local restaurants, featuring both national and international chefs. The cost of these dinners will be managed directly by the participating restaurants.

Out of the Blue Talks

The Out of the Blue Talks will cover topics such as Atlantic gastronomy, the blue economy, sustainable tourism, and the future of the ocean. These sessions, taking place at the Matosinhos Market, will feature speakers from various backgrounds and fields of knowledge, including chefs, researchers, nutritionists, entrepreneurs, and journalists. Each talk will also include a tasting of products related to the topic being discussed.

Under the Blue + Batô Lounge ( Immersive Experience )

At sunset, the Under the Blue immersive experience will feature multimedia projections simulating the ocean floor, creating an engaging visual and soundscape. The walls of the Market will transform into a digital ocean, with images of fish, corals, and other elements, transporting visitors to the underwater world and raising awareness about the importance of ocean conservation.

The accompanying musical animation (Lounge) will turn the Market into a meeting point where participants can extend their Out of the Blue experience until the end of the day, enjoying a sea-inspired cocktail or a dinner at the Market with the best local products.

Matosinhos Grand Fish Fest

A vibrant street event that celebrates local culture and gastronomy with music and entertainment offering a communal and festive experience. The event will take place on a section of Heróis de França Street. Fish, fishermen, and Matosinhos' restaurants will be honoured in a celebration of the world’s best fish and the best city to enjoy it.
